Acoustic Test Conditions
IIC 55 is the relevant baseline for Continental House. That rating was measured with laminate flooring on a 6″ concrete slab with no suspended ceiling — the assembly most comparable to this building's construction. The Field IIC of 60 (laminate, no ceiling) reflects a real-world measurement under similar conditions.
Ratings of 68–71 apply to assemblies with suspended or gypsum board ceilings, which add significant damping not present in the bare-slab scenario. The May 18 field retest will determine the actual FIIC in Continental House's specific assembly.
Context
This product is being evaluated as a candidate underlayment for Unit 606 at Continental House Condominium. The HOA requires a minimum FIIC 62 for new flooring installations and FIIC 55 for replacement installations. Lab IIC ratings do not directly equal field FIIC ratings — field values are typically lower.
